Kia has revealed details of the all-electric EV6, aiming to bring long-range, zero-emissions power, 800V ultra-fast charging and distinctive styling to the crossover SUV market.

The EV6 is Kia’s first car to be based on the company’s dedicated new architecture for battery electric vehicles, with a choice of two powertrains – 226bhp RWD single motor or 321bhp AWD dual motor – and three model grades available from launch.

A choice of two long-range, zero-emissions powertrains and 800V charging capability means the EV6 can go from 10-to-80 percent battery charge in just 18 minutes.

The Kia EV6 sees the debut of a new design philosophy from the brand which will continue on all future electric vehicle launches into 2026.

The crossover-inspired design features the brands characteristic daytime running lights with a sleek, modern appearance, forming a ‘digital tiger face’ which is a design progression of Kia’s famed ‘tiger nose grille’ for the electrified era.

A swept-back windscreen provides dynamism and purpose, with the bold rear haunches adding volume, while air is channelled through and under the car’s flat floor for optimum aerodynamics.

The EV6’s cabin benefits from class-leading interior space and functionality, thanks to the flat battery under the floor, and minimal front and rear overhangs.

Passengers are greeted by a lean, minimalist dashboard architecture that emphasises the cabin’s remarkable sense of space. A high-tech curved, curved display sweeps seamlessly across the dashboard to provide an instrument cluster in front of the driver and infotainment and navigation above the centre console.

The cabin is trimmed in a range of sustainable materials, with seats that are slim, lightweight and contemporary, and trimmed in vegan leather. Sections of the dashboard and centre console are clad in recycled plastics, equivalent to 107 plastic 500ml water bottles per car.

Despite the EV6’s relatively compact exterior dimensions – it’s no longer than a compact saloon – its 2,900mm wheelbase is longer than that of the Sorento SUV, the largest car Kia sells in the UK.

This is further emphasised by up to 490 litres of luggage space being offered with the seats up, extending to a maximum boot capacity of 1,300 litres when folding the rear seats down

Intuitive and easily accessible connectivity, information and augmented reality systems complement the driving experience by minimising distractions and appealing to the senses.

The two curved 12.3-inch high-definition widescreens wrap around the driver providing easy access to key vehicle information at a glance. These offer ‘Connected car’ Kia Connect functionality including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone compatibility as standard.

Convenience features such as keyless entry with touch-sensitive entry buttons, programmable driver profiles, relaxation seats, and ergonomic design create an experience that puts the driver first.

Safety features include Highway Driving Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Lane Keep Assist and Driver Attention Warning fitted as standard on all versions, with rear parking sensors and reversing camera system with dynamic guidelines fitted to every EV6 model.

Kia EV6 powertrains and range

The EV6 will offer a long-range 77.4kWh Lithium-ion polymer battery pack as standard in the UK with two pure electric drivetrains available from launch – 226bhp RWD and 321bhp AWD.

The RWD EV6 can travel up to 328 miles on a single charge, equivalent to travelling from London to Edinburgh. With a power output of 226bhp and maximum torque of 350Nm, it can sprint to 62mph in 7.3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 114mph.

Ultra-rapid charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes when using a 350kW charger. A top-up charge of 62 miles of driving range takes just four and a half minutes.

A rapid charge from 10 to 80 per cent takes 1 hour 13 minutes using a 50kW charger

The battery pack can be replenished to 100 per cent with a 7kW home charger in 7 hours 20 minutes.

The EV6 is also fitted with energy-recuperation technologies to maximise driving range. These include a regenerative braking system as well as an optional heat pump which aids efficiency in colder seasons.
