The Volkswagen Tiguan eHybrid, the latest addition to VWs plug-in hybrid offering and first PHEV in the Tiguan range, has officially opened for orders in the UK with prices started from £35.515 OTR.

The Tiguan eHybrid combines a 1.4 TSI petrol engine with an electric motor to offer drivers up to 241bhp and a 0-62mph of 7.5 seconds.

Volkswagen Tiguan eHybrid is the latest PHEV to be offered by the brand.

Positioned as ideal for fleet managers and company car drivers thanks to its low CO2 output and enticing 11-13% BIK tax rate, it has a fuel economy of up to 176mpg and the capability of up to 30 miles pure-electric driving.

Tiguan eHybrid all-electric range

The Tiguan eHybrid starts journeys in all-electric E-Mode by default if the battery is sufficiently charged (and the temperature is above -10°C). This means that for those who travel less than 30 miles in a day, all-electric motoring will likely become the norm.

The eHybrid’s intelligent powertrain can also be programmed to reserve electric power to be used later in a journey, if you know you will be entering a low emission zone for example. Nominal recharging can also be achieved via brake energy recuperation and via the petrol engine if programmed by the driver.

Recharging the 10.4 kWh battery takes five hours from empty using a 2.3 kW AC via the normal domestic grid. This is reduced to three hours and 40 minutes if using a 3.6 kW wall box or public charger.

The Tiguan eHybrid comes in three trims: Life (£35,515), Elegance (£37,780), and R-Line (£38,120).

Life trim

Standard equipment on the entry-level Life version includes automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, an eight-inch touchscreen satnav and LED matrix headlights.

Elegance trim

Elegance trim adds a heated steering wheel, 30-colour ambient lighting, electric boot opening/closing, keyless entry and a 10.25-inch digital dashboard display. Driver assistance systems such as a rear-view camera, Side Assist, rear traffic alert, and Predictive Cruise Control are also included.

R-Line trim

The sporty R-Line version sits at the top of the range and adds to the above with a roof spoiler, 20-inch alloy wheels, exclusive front and rear bumpers and wheel arch extensions, black roof lining, and R-Line badging throughout.
