The seventh season of Game of Thrones is approaching its finale this Monday, and we are playing our favourite game (see what I did there) of choosing which cars represent which characters. It has been six years since we first saw the Game of Thrones begin with murder and treachery. In that time, there has been more murder, war, machinations and betrayal that has changed each of our characters in different ways.
The cars representing them in the beginning no longer represent them now. In fact, the cars chosen last year, do not match up now for some of our favourites. View our gallery of cars chosen to represent our favourite GOT characters.
Daenerys Targaryen – Bentley Bentayga
Bentley launched the Bentayga last year to offer a regal alternative to many of the luxury SUVs clogging up the market. That is what Daenerys offers in Westeros. She is the alternative to the kings, queens and aristocracy that has plagued Westeros for generations.
Bentley’s first attempt at a luxury SUV has been met with promise, so it is time to see if Daenerys can also deliver on the promise of her rule. While Daenerys has her children (dragons!),the Bentayga comes with a 6.0-litre W12 engine squeezed beneath its bonnet. That W12 engine generates 608 bhp. For a car of its size, it surged from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds and up to a top speed of 187 mph. Wonder how fast those dragons can travel.
Jon Snow? – Aston Martin DB11
Jon Snow spent much of season 7 doing two things. Growing and understanding his role as King in the North and constantly begging for help to fight the Night King (I think this guy may be a serious threat). So far events have proven Jon Snow correct and showed he does know something.
Aston Martin launched the DB11 last year, around the time Jon Snow became King in the North and proved a massive success similarly to Jon. Under that bonnet is a twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 engine developing 600 bhp. It dashes from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 200 mph.
The DB11 delivers an amazing ride. Aston Martin designed it for grand touring meaning it is comfortable for the longest journeys, which is perfect for Jon considering how much travelling he has done this season.
Arya Stark – Mazda MX-5
Ah Arya. We’ve watched her grow from a boisterous young girl into a cold killer with a list that needs completing. We’ve seen her skill at killing, but rarely have we seen her skills like fighting, until she sparred with Brienne. She was light, agile and skilled to the surprise of all those watching.
There is only one car that can represent the skilled assassin. The Mazda MX-5 is an incredibly rewarding car to drive and judged the best affordable two seater convertible sports car on the market. Arya is now the best Assassin in Westeros, and with that, she deserves a car to match.
The fastest and most agile model in the range is the 2.0 SE-L model with its 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine coming out with 160 bhp. This dashing car hits 60 mph in 7.3 seconds and hits a top speed of 133 mph.
Brandon Stark – Range Rover Evoque Convertible
Bran Stark, like his siblings, suffered a hard lot over the past seven seasons. First, he was pushed from a tower and became a cripple who couldn’t walk. He travelled beyond the wall after being chased out of Winterfell, presumed dead, stayed in a cave with the Three-eye Raven, learned the power to see the past, present and future in visions and travelled back over the wall and home. All without the use of his legs, lying on a stretcher.
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible seems perfect for young Bran. It can handle whatever terrain it takes on including the snow, and with the roof down, the driver can see everything around it. It is a great size that could hold Bran and his companions on the desolate journey beyond the wall and back.
The Evoque Convertible offers a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 178 bhp with an acceleration time to 60 mph in 10.3 seconds. It has a fuel economy of 49.6 mpg, meaning Bran can travel far before ever needing to fill up again.
Jaime Lannister – Jaguar F-Type
Jaime Lannister has changed much since we first met him and witnessed him push Bran Stark from the tower, ensuring his secret remained safe, at least for a while. Since then, he has grown as a character from a rather selfish man through trials and tribulations where we saw him broken with the loss of his sword hand and eventual renewal as a more sympathetic character.
Jaguar for a period was an unpopular choice of car. However, the brand has seen a true renewal thanks to the Jaguar F-Type. This car offers amazing style with the elegance you might expect from the greatest swordsman in the land, which is why we chose it to represent the great Jamie Lannister.
The most sensible engine offered by the F-Type is the V6 model, developing 340 bhp. From standstill to 60 mph, the F-Type races in 5.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 161 mph. There is no other car we can imagine suiting Jaime Lannister. Can you?
Tyrion Lannister – Bentley Continental GT
Tyrion is Daenerys’ Hand of the Queen, and therefore it is fitting he takes up a Bentley Continental GT to match her Bentley Bentayga. Tyrion suffered greatly throughout the show since it began six years ago and yet has proven himself to be honourable, full of character and nobility.
The Bentley Continental GT is a symbol of noble power thanks to the 4.0-litre V8 engine beneath its bonnet and luxurious interior. The V8 generates 507 bhp, darting from stationary to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 188 mph.
The Continental GT is the first rate. Like Tyrion’s mind, there is little that can beat the Continental on the inside. The materials are top quality with improved space available, everything is well built. Tyrion is a fan of luxurious things, but is also willing to get down in the dirt. The Bentley is beautiful on the inside and willing to fight it out with its rivals on the road. They are a perfect match.
The Night King – Ford F-150 Raptor
The Night King is still the most mysterious character in the show. We are not certain of his motives just yet. It appears to be a mass extermination of the living in Westeros and to resurrect them all at Wights and for him and the other White Walkers to rule over what is left. Could that be all it is?
There is one car we think matches the Night King. The Ford F-150 Raptor is a proven vehicle for travelling in the snow, and that is what the Night King needs considering he’s been travelling through it for almost four seasons.
IT has a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 450 bhp. Considering its size, you may be surprised to learn it darts from 0-60 mph in 5 seconds and hits a top speed of 107 mph. This season, the Night King acquired a new ride and the F-150 Raptor is a perfect match.
