#GoToplessDay – We Celebrate With The Best Convertibles

25th August 2017

Summer has so many great days to celebrate, and #GoToplessDay is one of our favourites. The weather in the UK is never really good enough for you to physically go topless (always a little chilly),but that doesn’t mean your car can’t lower its top. Convertible supercars are exceptionally fast, immensely luxurious and with the power to go topless, the most exciting cars on the road.

Come rain or shine; the supercar convertible will deliver. There is a great selection available on the UK market. These are our favourite supercar convertibles you could choose for #GoToplessDay.

Ferrari California

This model is known as the softest Ferrari available. It isn’t designed for insane power, or incredible track handling or new hybrid technology. No, the Ferrari California is designed to cruise with the roof down, delivering amazing comfort to the driver.

Ferrari California

Under the bonnet is the first turbocharged engine used in a Ferrari since the legendary Ferrari F40 hypercar, built in 1987. It has taken over thirty years for Ferrari to include turbochargers and in the California, they have included two. There is a 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine developing 553 bhp. It cruises to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 196 mph.

Inside the California, you receive a special, driver focused set up. It includes premium Italian leather of the highest standard and a beautiful dashboard. The roof available is a folding metal roof, and it lowers in 14 seconds. Just enough time for you to prepare yourself for the cruise ahead.

Bentley Continental GTC

The Bentley Continental GT is a top of the market, luxury machine. This model adds some extra spice, thanks to the folding roof. The speed and comfort remain with the addition of a cool breeze and extra sun.

Bentley Continental GTC

Bentley loves their V-styled engines, and in the GTC, you have two on offer. You can have the smaller 4.0-litre V8 engine or the 6.0-litre W12 (two V6s bolted together). The W12 produces 567 bhp, powering this 2.5-tonne machine from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds. That smaller V8 develops 500 bhp with a top speed of 187 mph and accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 5 seconds.

Bentley wins when it comes to the interior. It offers the finest wood, leather and aluminium available with sumptuous comfy seating. Don’t worry if it is sunny, but cool when the roof is down; the seats have hot air neck warmers making the GTC a real treat to drive.

Jaguar F-Type

When the Jaguar F-Type was originally launched, it started out as a convertible, and the F-Type coupe appeared later. The F-Type is judged to be one of the best convertible sports cars on the market today. Jaguar says it is the spiritual successor of their greatest creation, the E-Type.

Jaguar F-Type

Like many of its closest rivals, the F-Type does offer a selection of engines. There is an entry level supercharged V6 engine producing a top speed of 161 mph and an acceleration time to 60 mph in 5 seconds. There is an upgrade V6 S developing 375 bhp, giving it an extra 10 mph on the top speed and it hits 60 mph in just under 5 seconds.

The third engine is the largest. It is a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 S model, producing 542 bhp. This beast dashes from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and smashes a limited top speed of 186 mph. All these engines offer satisfying speed and acceleration times. It all depends on just how quick you want to be.

Jaguar has always been praised for their interiors, and the F-Type holds the beacon high. Like most modern sports cars, the interior is both high quality and driver focused. It is only two seaters, but then who buys a sports car for the family, right?

Audi R8 Spyder

The Audi R8 has been a leading light in the supercar world since it was launched almost a decade ago. The Spyder offers you a powerful supercar with the chance of extra sun for the day and protection when it rains. What is there to say no about?

Audi R8 Spyder

Originally Audi offers V8 engines in their R8 models. However, now all R8 models are gifted V10 engines. The R8 Spyder has a 5.2-litre V10 developing 533 bhp. It sails from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 197 mph. It also sounds fantastic thanks to the power it unleashes.

Audi focused on delivering a sporty interior, so the R8 Spyder enjoys heavily bolstered sports seats with a driver focused interior that has exceptional high tech build quality and design. Everything is powered by a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit display behind the steering wheel that shows your drivers information, car and engine information and sat-nav.
