‘Tis the season to be jolly but ‘Tis also the season to be wary. We are having an unusual bitter cold British winter and what that brings is icy wet treacherous roads, frozen steamed up windscreens, cold hands and bums (if you have leather seats!) and cars deciding it’s just too cold for them to start. Fortunately at Hippo we have a new range of reduced cars in stock for a limited time, to help you get home safe for Christmas, as well as some top tips to staying safe whilst driving.
Roadside assistance is always advised, especially at this time of year. The last thing you want is to break down in the snow or rain, and have to pay huge amounts for a recovery call out over this period. Fortunately nearly all of our car leasing offers come with Breakdown cover included, so you can be safe in the knowledge that if something goes wrong, we’ve got you covered.
1 - Check your tyres.
Check your tyres. With daytime rainfall, followed by zero temperature nights, the roads, in the morning especially, can be extremely slippery. It’s advised to ensure that you have enough tread on your tyres or have snow tyres fitted, as well as driving extremely vigilantly of course. We would recommend a car like the Kia Sportage that’s available for just £223.79 a month right now as it comes with ESP and traction control as standard. ESP is a computerized technology that improves a car's stability by detecting and reducing loss of traction (skidding). What’s more it also has EBD as standard too, meaning it uses a technology that automatically varies the amount of force applied to each of a vehicle's wheels based on road conditions. It comes in a striking Atlantic White (fitting for the season!),warranty, road tax and UK wide delivery included.
2 - Be prepared.
It’s always good to be prepared in this weather, and our next car on offer includes a first aid kit & warning triangle. It’s advised by leading breakdown companies to carry these, along with warm clothes and blankets, food and water supplies and of course a phone charger. You can keep all these items in the underfloor storage box, and you’ll always be able to charge your phone with a 12v and a USB socket. The Nissan Juke is only £177.94 per month, and we only have a few in stock, ready to go. It comes with so many cool features, as well as colour rear view camera for those dark nights and heated door mirrors for the frosty mornings.
3 - Take regular breaks on long journeys.
Many of us may have to drive a significant distance if our families are in different counties. It’s advised to make regular stops, do not drive tired, and keep hydrated and entertained. The next car on our list is the prefect car for those who have a long way to drive this Christmas. With the Range Rover Evoque, you’ll not only be in the most stylish, but safest and most convenient cars for winter. Its features are endless, but safety wise it has in control navigation, autonomous emergency braking and even a lane departing warning system. For comfort it has heated front and rear seats, 12 way adjustable seats, 4 way lumbar support and to keep everyone entertained there’s a DVD system and 8 speakers with crystal clear sound. At just £340.07 per month right now, we expect the ones we have in stock to be sold out very soon!
4 - Stay safe!
Back to safety now, it’s actually illegal (due to it being so dangerous!) to drive with steamed up windscreens and mirrors. Always ensure that you have some de-icer, an ice scraper and an internal heating / AC system that works. When you get in your car wet, it’s inevitable that the windows will steam up. With a good car, this problem will be eradicated in seconds, and you can drive away sooner, knowing that it won’t steam up again whilst you’re driving. Just like our last car on offer, it has heated mirrors, a great heating system and an outside temperature display so you know if the roads are frozen or not. It also comes with ABS, brake assist and EBD, as well as the aforementioned ESP + traction control. The extremely popular Nissan Qashqai can be ordered now for just £203 a month, and once again, we only have a few in stock at the moment.
In a season full celebration, yet of frost and nasty weather, why not make it safer and more comfortable with a car you can rely on. We will even ‘gift wrap’ your car for you with a big bow (free of charge of course) and all these cars are currently in stock, include warranty, breakdown and delivery as standard. We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and stays safe and warm on their journeys home.
