It’s been an emotional rollercoaster over the last 12 months, but as the lyrical genius Cheryl Cole/Fernandez/Tweedy once said “It’s like a roller coaster. But I’m only going up”. The move over to our new showroom was a much needed one and has helped aid the director’s ambitions for further growth following the group outgrowing the previous premises.
The Hippo Motor Group was established in 2007 following successful franchise ownership by the Preston family. Current Director’s, Tom and Richard, were well known for the Land Rover, BMW and MINI showrooms across Lancashire before opting to start up the Hippo Motor Group to offer customers unbiased information and unrivalled availability to select from all makes and models.
Hippo Leasing was one of the original brands born in 2007 and has ridden the wave of popularity in the UK for car and van leasing. In 2014 it is now well documented by money saving gurus amongst others in the automotive media industry that leasing vehicles is a great way to save money. In the last 12 months Hippo Leasing has grown, especially in our local area as well as continuing to supply vehicles to all corners of the United Kingdom.
Our new showroom has seen a huge rise in the amount of Hippo Prestige and Hippo Used Cars stock we have on site at any one time. In turn this has contributed massively to our increased turnover since the move to Trident Park. Not only that but it has enabled us to offer our new and regular customers choice from all manufacturers without having to shop around.
One of the biggest advantages we had since the company’s big move was the service centre. The Hippo Service Centre allows us to service, repair and maintain all the vehicles we stock as well as retail work for local customers. Previously all our maintenance and preparation work had to be out sourced which broke up the customer’s relationship with our account managers.
On October 3rd 2013 we packed up all our computers, our files and our 28 strong team got used to their new environment. We are now one year on and our team has increased by over 40% in every department we have. Our turnover has in turn increased from £18 - £24 million and with further expansion plans in place for a new local site “the only way is up, baby!”! (Yes, that is a reference to 80’s superstar, Yazz)
