If Premier League Teams Were Lease Cars...

3rd July 2014

When it comes to car leasing you are looking for something that suits you. It’s got to suit your lifestyle and work for what you need it to do. The same can be said for the football world albeit on a massive scale now. Premier League teams look for players that complement their style, their traditions and of course their budgets, the same as how we shop for our cars whether it be for personal or business use.

Man City – BMW 320d Business Edition

The BMW 320 is one of the models of the BMW range that has been around for as long as people can remember but since a recent overhaul of its features, appearance and overall appeal it has become one of the most desirable lease vehicles on the market. Here we have a match made in heaven with big spenders and Premier League champions, Manchester City.

A car littered with quality features and curves in all the right places the BMW 320d Business Edition has taken the beautiful vehicle to the next level. BMW have become renowned for adding little gems to their cars such as the M sport gear box back in the day and now the innovative BMW assist. This immediately connects you to the emergency services for assistance should you require it.

Manchester City are the same but on a slightly more grand scale in terms of the footballing pyramid. Investments last season in players such as Negredo, Jovetic and Jesus Navas seem to have settled the squad this summer as they haven’t gone out in the same vein and hoarded an abundance of worldwide talent this time around. They have however released the likes of Gareth Barry, Joleon Lescott and last season’s part time number one, Costel Pantilimon so don’t expect them to sit still for too long! Alongside the well-known names theManchester Evening News revealed a few less renocgnisable names released from the academy.

Chelsea- BMW 1 Series

The BMW 1 Series is definitely one of the big players in the leasing market. Fantastic to look at, reliable and ever so quick!

Chelsea are perfectly matched with the 1 Series. Pace to burn with the introduction of Oscar, Hazard and replacement in defence for the slowing Cole in the form of César Azpilicueta and the home record under Mourinho that suggests they are pretty much a home banker at the Bridge.

Hull – Renault Megane Dynamique

Hull manager Steve Bruce would have been given more plaudits last season had it not been for the more noticeable achievements of long ball enthusiast Tony Pulis at Palace. Even so Steve Bruce managed to turn unfancied Hull into a safe side by the time the last few fixtures rolled in.

Despite pressure and bizarre goings on above him with the owner planning on rebranding the club and fans revolting at the thought, Bruce and his squad managed to plough on.

The Renault Megane has been around for years but the recent facelift has made it even more noticeable. Hull made some shrewd signings in Long and Jelavic and Renault did the same thing with the Megane Dynamique. By adding the Sat Nav into the vehicle they added a desirable aspect to the already improved appearance whilst keeping the costs down.

A perfect comparison if you’re looking for reliability, affordability and a vehicle that has been in the background for a while but is back with a bang!

Everton – Ford Focus

One of the most stable clubs in the Premier League era are Everton. A great comparison to the long standing Ford Focus. Bleachereport made the same comparison in their post stating that Everton are ‘comfortable, they operate on a mid-range budget and no one really has a bad word to say about them’. All sounds very true of the Merseyside club, aside from their rivalry with revived Liverpool.

The Ford Focus made its debut in 1998 at the Geneva Motor Show and figures on Ford's website show their popularity. By March 1999, 100,000 had been sold with over 200,000 orders waiting North America. A raving comparison to the blue side of Merseyside who are long standing, popular worldwide and successful.

Manchester United – Nissan Juke

The crossover Nissan Juke is somewhere in between a 4x4 and the hatchback. Bigger than your standard car but not quite as big as it could be. An attractive vehicle nonetheless with lots of potential, fantastic features and plenty of fans. Sound like a European footballing giant in Manchester?

It’s true to say the Red Devils are in a transitional period since the great Sir Alex Ferguson has left and this has left an ageing squad in need of some TLC. David Moyes wasn’t the man to keep up the incredible work left behind and so it is down to Louis Van Gaal. The Dutchman with admirers throughout the globe has the task of bringing this fantastic club to the forefront of European football again and with some high profile signings already the future is looking bright.

The Nissan Juke has been tweaked and tuned since the launch in 2010. The Juke was a follow up to the successful Nissan Qashqai and parallel to Manchester United has millions of fans worldwide.

It looks fantastic, same as United, and has assets inside and out that make it stand out, especially on the Acenta with Premium pack which comes with Bluetooth, Satellite Navigation and other features such as 16” alloy wheels.

Burnley – Peugeot 107 1.0 Urban

Personal car leasing moves on and in the last few days we have added some newer models to the Peugeot 107 range. In the same vein Burnley are the new boys to the Premier League.

Last season saw them surprise everyone with a run of form no one could predict after losing star man Charlie Austin to Championship rivals QPR. The Peugeot 107 is also a package that leaves a lasting impression that you will not have expected. Fantastic handling and an easy drive coupled with comfort and some entertainment features that will make it affordable and pleasant.

Burnley will be grateful for even a fraction of the comfort in their upcoming campaign but with squad togetherness being the main ingredient for their success last year and no big names leaving it’s as good as pre-season they could have hoped for.

Aston Villa-  Ford Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta is now in its sixth generation since the original was manufactured and released in 1976. The same stability and reliability can be said of Premier League long term club, Aston Villa.

Villa have been through some turmoil of late but always seem to manage to pull off an escape and get the results they need to stay in the best league in the world.

This coming season though could see them relegated into the Championship should owner, Randy Lerner, stay true to current form and starve the manager of vital funds to reinvest in the young squad.

This summer has seen them land the experienced, much like the Ford Fiesta, heads of Senderos following his stint at Valencia, and West Hams released Joe Cole.

The Premier League is shaping up to be another corker with some of the best names in world football being linked to the British clubs and we look forward to seeing the drama unfold. We expect plenty of new signings and departures that could make or break the clubs seasons so it looks like an interesting month before kick off!
