Add in the fact that all Hyundai’s come with an amazing 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, Hyundai roadside assistance and 5 annual vehicle health checks and the Hyundai Ionic looks like a winner.
The Volkswagen e-Golf has gathered many plaudits during its short life so far. It has a manufactures range of over 180 miles ( around 120 Miles in practice) and is loaded with all the practical features you have come to expect from the “people’s car”.
One of the key advantages of the e-Golf is its refined ride which is somehow enhanced when moving under electric power but you won’t be disappointed by its ability to get in front of most vehicles when commuting or cruising on the motorway though its not designed for flat out speed – expect around 9.2 seconds for a 0-62 mph time to go along with its practical interior and solid ride.
The BMW i3 polarised opinion on its launch – mostly because its shape was so unlike a normal BMW that some needed time to warm to it – and some never will! Thats a pity as it’s probably the best luxury electric vehicle available so if you like the looks then you are in for a treat with the i3.
The interior of the i3 is its real draw card and proves that everyday electric vehicles don’t need to be boring with a range of standard features including heated front seats, a fantastic multimedia system and LED headlights. With a 0-62 mph time of 7.3 seconds the BMW i3 also no slouch and when it comes to range the manufacturer advises 186 miles but expect less in real world driving conditions.
Nissan was early to the all electric party with the original Leaf and the 2nd generation does not disappoint. It’s got an excellent range – up to 168 miles of combined driving according to the manufacturer and with 150PS power output it’s not slow off the mark either, aided by its automatic gearbox. Charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 60 minutes with the fastest chargers according to Nissan and a full charge from home with a 7kW charger will take about 7.5 hours.
There are 3 trims, the “Acenta”, the “N-Connecta” and the “Tekna” and all have impressive kit with even the Acenta having lane departure warning, emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, a 7” touchscreen, rear view camera, ios and android connectivity and 16” alloy wheels. The Tekna boasts 7 Bose speakers, full LED headlights and a fair bit of leather.
The Jaguar I-Pace is a super electric vehicle. The I Pace is poised and refined plus it feels just like a top of the range Jag when you get into it and this sleek machine is blessed with simply stunning acceleration – if you are after a luxury electric-only vehicle then the Jag is quite possibly the one to beat though Tesla could quite easily also argue the point.
With a claimed range of over 290 Miles ( more like just over 200 in real life we think) and a 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds, the Jaguar is built to reduce range anxiety but also to thrill as you take it on a long drive where the acceleration is simply breathtaking. The I Pace retails for well over £60k however so you will be pleased with the lease deals that Hippo Leasing can offer on this finest of electric only vehicles.
