There's only one thing wrong with the Maserati Quattroporte, but you would need to speak Italian to spot it. Quattroporte means 'four-doors' and that's hardly a fitting name for this sultry, sphinx like creature. Pretty much everything else is spot on however, from the mighty engines through to the saloon's sumptuous cabins with Italian styling at its best.
This is a driver's car and the Quattroporte's distinguishing asset in a class packed with competition is the amazing drive. Powered by one of three engines, a V6 diesel made by VM Motori, or two petrol powerhouses: one a 3.8-litre V8 beast and the other a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel made by none other than Ferrari.
The ride is something to behold, supported by a double wishbone suspension layout with Skyhook suspension which adds shock absorbers that deliver continuous damping variation to give a ride blessed by the angels. The brakes are massive Brembo brakes using a combination of aluminium and cast iron to bring you to a halt when needed.
This Maserati comes in two trims, GranLusso and GranSport. Both are stylish and celebrate all that's good about Italian design but the Sport has a more daring and challenging look that says it's not scared of anything that the luxury German saloons can throw at it.
