It’s no secret that car manufacturers are fast moving towards a fully electric future, with hybrids helping to bridge the gap in between. Here we look at Kia electric and hybrid cars.

Having already sold over 100,000 EVs since 2011, Kia Motors C is a company dedicated to expanding their range of electric and hybrid offerings.

Kia recently outlined their planned future products and their vision of sustainability.

This vision includes their intention to launch no less than 16 new electric or hybrid models by 2025. This will add five hybrids, five plug-in hybrids, five electric vehicles, and one fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), to their already established line-up.  

The brand have also voiced their intention to sell up to 1.2 million EVs by the year 2030.

Having already produced several electric and hybrid options since 2011 – including the world’s first hybrid minivan in 2016 – it’s clear that Kia has firm intentions to become frontrunners in the EV and hybrid car sectors.

Kia boasts a flourishing EV and hybrid car range showcased in the following eight offerings.

Kia Niro

The 2022 Niro is a sleek looking modern hybrid, crossover SUV that is both fuel-efficient and fun to drive.

The Niro houses a 1.6-litre engine coupled with a hybrid electric motor – producing 139 hp and an EPA-Estimated MPG of up to 50 miles, combined.

The infotainment system is operated through an eight-inch colour touchscreen display, and offers smartphone connectivity, along with Bluetooth Wireless technology.

Safety wise, the Niro comes equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a High Line Tire-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Dual Front Advanced Airbags, a Driver’s Side Knee Airbag, Full-Length Side Curtain Airbags, Dual Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags, and Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH), are also equipped as standard.

Other great features include rear privacy glass, roof rails, keyless entry, and a rear-view camera with dynamic parking guidelines.

Kiro Niro Plug-In Hybrid

The 2022 Niro Plug-In Hybrid is a small but stylish SUV offering plenty of space and versatility.

It’s 1.6-litre Engine is combined with a Plug-In Electric Motor – producing 139 hp collectively.

This capable hybrid has an EPA estimated range of 105 MPGe combined, with up to 26-miles of all-electric range.

The Kia Connect Infotainment system is operated through an 8-inch colour touchscreen and offers full smartphone connectivity. Other internally operated features include a rear camera and dual-zone climate control.

The 63.2 cu. ft. of total cargo room ensures plenty of space for the transporting of goods.

Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Driver Attention Warning (DAW) are all included in the safety and driver’s assistance package.

Kia Niro EV

The 2022 Kia Niro EV is a capable all-electric, crossover SUV that is an absolute pleasure to drive.

The Niro EV has an EPA-estimated range of 239 miles, with 100 miles of range offered from a mere 30 minutes of charging, through a compatible 100 kW DC fast charger.

The Electric Drive Motor produces 201 hp and 291 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Niro EV houses a voice-command navigation system controlled through a 10.25-inch touchscreen display, and is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Kia Drive Wise Driver Assist Technology includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist for both pedestrians and cyclists, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and much more.

Kia Sportage Hybrid

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is a good-looking crossover SUV that offers a dynamic driving experience with its multiple driving modes, and available Active All-Wheel Drive.

It’s 1.6-litre Turbo Hybrid Powertrain produces 227 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, along with a fuel economy of up to 43 MPG, combined.

Featuring 17-inch alloy wheels, a 6-speed automatic transmission, along with LED headlights & taillights, the Sportage is one well-equipped vehicle. 

This model is outfitted with a 12.2-inch instrument display along with an 8-inch touchscreen display. The infotainment system is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, rear parking sensors, and rear occupant alert, are all equipped as standard.

Kia Sportage Plug-In Hybrid

The all-new 2023 Sportage Plug-in Hybrid combines the efficiency of a plug-in hybrid with the performance of a powerful SUV.

With a 1.6-litre plug-in hybrid engine capable of producing 261 hp, 258 lb.-ft. of torque, and 84 MPGe combined fuel economy, this Kia is not only capable, but gentle on the bank balance.  

The Sportage Plug-In Hybrid displays many fine external features including 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, LED head and taillights, high utility roof rails, a smart power tailgate, and a gloss black finish.

The infotainment system is accessed through an impressive 12.3-inch touchscreen display and includes satellite navigation, Kia Connect, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and full smartphone connectivity.

Auto Emergency Braking, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Driver Attention Warning, Rear Parking Sensors, and Blind-Spot Detection Warning are amongst the array of standard safety features.

Kia Sorento Hybrid

The 2023 Sorento Hybrid is a powerful yet fuel-efficient SUV, jam-packed with fantastic features.

The 1.6-litre Turbo Hybrid Powertrain produces 227 hp, 256 lb.-ft. of torque, and delivers a best-in-class 37 MPG combined.

17-inch alloy wheels, a smart power tailgate, roof rails and LED headlights all contribute toward the Sorento’s exclusive looking exterior.

The Sorento’s infotainment system includes a 10.5-inch touchscreen display, satellite navigation, Kia Connect, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and smartphone connectivity.

The Kia Sorento Plug-In Hybrid is a spacious and powerful vehicle.

The 2023 Sorento Plug-In Hybrid is a spacious, powerful, and fuel-efficient, three-row SUV that offers an impressive range of standard features.

This robust, 1.6-litre Turbo Plug-In Hybrid produces 261 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. It has a range of 460-miles – 32 miles of which are all-electric. Its performance is enhanced by its torque-vectoring All-Wheel-Drive system and 19-inch alloy wheels.

LED projector headlights and LED taillights, roof rails, smart power tailgate and power-folding mirrors are amongst the extensive assortment of external features.

This Sorento model boasts the most passenger room, and second-row legroom of any plug-in hybrid SUV on the market.

A large 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Display, along with a 10.25-inch Touchscreen Display featuring satellite navigation, Kia Connect, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, are equipped as standard. Kia EV6

The Kia EV6 is a groundbreaking vehicle that has already picked up a number of industry awards.

The 2022 EV6 Light is a rear-wheel-drive, all-electric, crossover SUV that has been designed to impress even the most discerning of electric car critics. 

The EV6’s 58.0 kWh battery produces 167 hp, 258 lb.-ft. of torque, and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. That’s faster than a Porsche Cayenne Coupé!

The EV6 has an EPA-estimated range of 232 miles and can charge up to 80% in 18 minutes, at a fast-charging station.

19-inch alloy wheels along with LED headlights and taillights, are amongst the many noteworthy external features.

Dual 12.3-inch Panoramic Connectivity Displays provide easy access to the EV6’s infotainment system. Kia Connect, smartphone connectivity, a wireless phone charger, Wi-Fi hotspot, dual-zone automatic climate control, and five USB ports are all equipped as standard.
