The luxurious EQS SUV has just been released to the UK market and is already causing quite the stir amongst buyers and car enthusiasts alike.

This premium, fully electric, seven-seater SUV is available in two trim levels from launch, namely the EQS 450 4MATIC and the EQS 580 4MATIC. Both versions come in two model lines – the Business Class version and the AMG Line Premium Plus version.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Exterior

The new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV comes with the option of several different, high-quality paint options. These include Emerald Green, High-tech Silver, MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey, MANUFAKTUR Diamond White, Obsidian Black, Selenite Grey, and Sodalite Blue.

Additionally, the Premium Plus features a Digital Light with Light band, along with a Panoramic Sunroof, and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Interior

Like the exterior, the contents of the interior vary depending on the trim line. The entry level Business Class trim includes a macchiato beige Nappa leather and ship deck wood trim, whilst the top-of-the-range AMG Line Premium Plus exhibits a black Nappa leather and anthracite wood trim.

To ensure a peaceful driving environment, Mercedes-Benz have used special acoustic foams as well as rubber insulation on the electric drive units. The means a major reduction in cabin noise, resulting in a tranquil and comfortable journey every time.

Adding to the upmarket nature of the interior is the Burnmester sound system that delivers the Mercedes-Benz only Dolby Atmos and Apple Spatial Audio experience.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Safety and Tech

The new EQS SUV is jampacked with technology including the available Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen, with no less than three high-definition OLED displays – equipped as standard on the EQS 580, and as an optional extra on the EQS 450 Premium Plus.

The EQS also features the latest generation MBUX infotainment system, that comes complete with a set of dedicated off-road displays. The voice control based ‘Hey Mercedes’ interior assistant can instruct MBUX to control many of the SUV’s functions from interior lighting to navigation.

Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB-C, and wireless charging are also included in the EQS. Yet another noteworthy feature of the vehicle is the driver’s Head-up display that comes with its own infotainment display and a digital compass.

Furthermore, the Business Class option includes rear entertainment and the Energising Comfort Package.

All models feature an extensive suite of safety and driver assistance technologies.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Drive and Engine

The four-wheel drive EQS 450 4MATIC can deliver up to 365 miles of all-electric range on a single charge. Alternatively, the four-wheel drive EQS 580 4MATIC offers an all-electric range of up to 364 miles when fully charged.

Acceleration wise, the EQS 450 4MATIC delivers a 0-62mp/h time of just six seconds, whilst the EQS 580 4MATIC is even quicker at 4.6 seconds.

The on-road performance of these models is dramatically improved through the addition of rear-wheel steering – 10 degrees as standard. This vastly enhances agility when travelling at lower speeds, as the rear wheels work alongside the front wheel steering angle at speed. This has a positive impact on both handling and stability.

The off-road performance of the EQS SUV is refined through the SUV’s ability to raise its ride height using the standard AIRMATIC air suspension by 25mm. Additionally, the dynamic select driving modes now include a devoted OFF-ROAD mode.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Price

The EQS SUV is now on sale in the U.K. with prices starting at £129,170 for the AMG Line Premium Plus model.
