Škoda expands its sporty range with the new Škoda Enyaq iV vRS

Škoda Auto have expanded on their sporty vRS range to include a second fully-electric model – the Škoda Enyaq iV vRS.

This new release is part of Škoda Auto’s commitment to their Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030. The company intends to become one of the five top-selling brands in Europe by 2030, through the inclusion of additional, enticing entry level segment offerings, as well as newly developed e-models.

Škoda Enyaq iV vRS: Exterior

The dynamic exterior design of the Enyaq iV vRS exhibits multiple vRS-specific elements. These include the high-gloss finishes of the Škoda grille’s frame, exterior mirror covers, window frames, rear diffuser, the Škoda wordmark, and the model designation at the backend.

Another notable external feature is the high-gloss black accents on the E-shaped air curtain surrounds of the front apron. Further distinctive characteristics of this Škoda’s outer panel include the body-coloured side skirts, and the rear apron’s red reflector that runs across the full width of the vehicle.

At the front end of the vRS specific exterior, sit full LED Matrix headlights with Crystal Face. A unique feature of the Enyaq iV vRS are the 131 LED’s that light up the horizontal bar and vertical ribs of the Škoda grille. The front wings display exclusive green vRS logos, with the backend also sporting full LED lighting.

The low sitting body of the new Enyaq iV vRS has been designed with aerodynamics in mind, and boasts a very low drag coefficient. Streamlined aero inserts on the wheels further contribute towards the car’s aerodynamic nature, whilst 20-inch Taurus wheels – equipped as standard – add to the car’s on-road capabilities. Optional anthracite 21-inch Vision wheels are also available, as is an optional large panoramic sunroof.

Škoda Enyaq iV vRS: Interior

The spacious interior of the Enyaq iV vRS fits up to five people and provides a boot capacity of 585-litres – a space that can easily be increased to 1,710-litres with the rear seating folded flat. This area can be effortlessly accessed via the factory-fitted electric tailgate with virtual pedal.

The Enyaq iV vRS is available in two exclusive trims including the vRS-series-standard Lounge design and the optional Design Selection vRS Suite.

The predominantly black interior of this new Enyaq delivers a sporty environment typical of the vRS series. A carbon-look decorative finish on the dashboard and door panels, along with heated sport seats with integrated headrests displaying the vRS logo, and aluminium design pedal covers, are all fitted as standard. Additionally, standard features include LED ambient lighting, and a three-zone climate control system.

The black seats of the Lounge trim are upholstered in Suedia microfibre and include lime-coloured piping and contrast stitching, a design element that is also featured on the Suedia-trimmed dashboard and on the heated, multifunctional sports steering wheel – bearing the vRS badge. The optional Design Selection vRS Suite features black, perforated seat upholstery, complete with grey piping and contrast stitching – a element also found on the multifunction sports steering wheel. The dashboard too exhibits an upgraded finish with contrasting stitching.

TŠkoda Enyaq iV vRS: Technology

Tech wise, the Enyaq iV vRS houses two digital displays, including a 13-inch (diagonal) screen – the largest central display currently fitted in a Škoda production model. These customisable displays can be controlled by touch function which includes gesture control, multi-touch gestures, and a touch slider. Alternatively, the online digital voice assistant ‘Laura’ – understands 15 languages – and is there to assist you.

A 5.3-inch Digital Cockpit is included in the setup and provides access to important information such as driving data, navigation, speed, and assistance systems. This data, along with these assistance systems, can be controlled via the multifunction steering wheel, as can various other vehicle functions.

Standard extras also include the Phone Box for inductive smartphone charging, and the Canton sound system – boasting twelve speakers and a digital equaliser. A noteworthy optional extra is the head-up display featuring augmented reality. This feature projects additional information directly into the driver’s line of sight, ensuring eyes are always kept on the road.

The Enyaq iV vRS’s software is continuously being updated due to its permanent online connection via an integrated eSIM. This enables the driver to download new functions or additional apps for the infotainment system. The most recent ME3 vehicle software includes climate control, display updates, and improved battery management. This internet connection supports several functions including navigation, traffic information, and parking space searching in real-time. Furthermore, it enables a wider range of voice control functions.

Škoda Enyaq iV vRS: Safety

Škoda have included numerous safety features and driver assistance systems in the new Enyaq iV vRS – the base model receiving a five-star Euro NCAP rating, scoring highly in all categories. The car was also awarded the safest vehicle in its class in 2021 – the highest rating for an electric SUV at the time.

Standard safety equipment includes nine airbags throughout the vehicle, with two more on offer as optional extras. Proactive Occupant Protection tightens all seatbelts and closes all windows in the event of emergency braking, an imminent collision, or when there is a risk of tipping over, or skidding.

The Enyaq iV vRS is equipped with all the assistance systems currently offered by Škoda. These systems include, but are not limited to, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detect with Rear Traffic Alert, Collision Avoidance Assist, Emergency Assist, Front Assist with predictive pedestrian and cyclist warning, Lane Keeping Assist with Roadworks Detection, Traffic Jam Assist, Travel Assist, Turn Assist and Exit Warning. Parking Assist is an optional extra and offers the Trained Parking function.

Škoda Enyaq iV vRS: Drive and Engine

The Enyaq iV vRS boasts the highest-performance powertrain currently offered by Škoda. It includes two electric motors – one that sits on the front axle and one that sits on the rear axle – coupled with an 82-kWh battery. This configuration produces a system output of 220 kW and a maximum torque of 460 Nm – identical to the Enyaq Cope iV vRS option. With a top speed of 111 mph, and a 0 – 62 mph time of just 6.5 seconds, the vRS versions of the Enyaq iV are the brand’s most powerful vehicles.

The engine configuration combined with the car’s high energy efficiency and low drag coefficient ensures the model has an emission-free, all-electric range of up to 310 miles in the WLTP cycle. Due to its maximum charging power of 135 kW, the ENYAQ iV vRS’s lithium-ion high-voltage battery can be recharged from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 36 minutes – using a fast-charging station with a charging power of up to 135 kW. The battery can also be recharged at AC wallboxes at up to 11 kW.

The new ‘Plug & Charge’ function enables users to begin the charging process at selected charging points, stored in the Powerpass app. The user simply connects the charging cable, and the vehicle is identified at the charging point. The charging session is then billed automatically.

The driving experience provided by the Enyaq iV vRS is defined by its standard high-performance features and capabilities. These include all-wheel drive, progressive steering, a sports suspension, a low centre of gravity, along with four driving modes including Eco, Comfort, Normal and Sport. Furthermore, a custom slider enables the driver to adjust the driving mode settings to their personal preferences.

Further performance features include the additional driving profile Traction – perfect for driving on slippery surfaces or gravel roads. Adaptive Chassis Control is also available as an optional extra.
